Redbreast Adds 18 Year Old Irish Whiskey to its Permanent Portfolio

Redbreast 18 Year Old boasts the inclusion of cream sherry cask-matured whiskies for a new, yet familiar flavor profile.

Redbreast Irish Whiskey has announced the launch of a new permanent addition to their portfolio: the Redbreast 18 Year Old. This expression adds a new option to its already renowned and award-winning lineup. The Redbreast 18 Year Old is crafted from a blend of traditionally-matured and cream sherry cask-matured whiskies, offering a unique take on classic Redbreast.

Redbreast 18 Year Old showcases the talents of Master Blender David McCabe and Redbreast Master Blender Emeritus Billy Leighton, drawing inspiration from the well-aged whiskey stocks at the historic Midleton Distillery while also embracing a diverse array of cask types. Crafted from malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in traditional copper pot stills, this expression has been aged in a cask combination of ex-bourbon, oloroso sherry, cream sherry and a portion aged in ruby port casks. The combination of ex-bourbon barrels and oloroso Sherry casks impart a complex balance of dried fruit, nuts, and spices, said to create a nuanced and mature taste experience. Full tasting notes from the brand are outlined below.

Redbreast 18 Year Old’s introduction marks a milestone for the brand, as this is the first permanent lineup extension in four years. The new expression is expected to appeal to both connoisseurs and enthusiasts, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for excellence and expanding its range of offerings.

Bottled at 46%, Redbreast 18 Year Old is available nationwide starting in September 2024 for an MSRP of $249.99. For more information, visit redbreastwhiskey.com or follow @redbreastus on Instagram.

Redbreast 18 Year Old Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Delectable berry fruit aromas of ripe black currants and raspberries accompanied by sugar glazed cherries and dried fig. Indulgent tones of hazelnut chocolate and caramelised stone fruits with warming and fragrant notes of toasted almonds and cinnamon, nestled alongside polished oak and worn leather.
  • Taste: Full-bodied and rounded, with the oak tannins complementing the decadent sweetness of sun-kissed grapes and autumnal fruits. Vibrant spices of freshly peeled ginger and hints of liquorice weave amongst the wine seasoned oak influences of dried fruits, dark berries and orange peel.
  • Finish: Rich and lasting. The pot still spices, fruit and oak slowly fade harmoniously, showcasing the balance of this wonderfully complex whiskey.
