A Historic First for the Iconic Texas Brand
The makers of Shiner Bock have announced their first-ever bourbon release, Shiner Texas Legend, now available exclusively at the K. Spoetzl Brewery & Distillery in Shiner, Texas. This limited-edition bourbon originates from the distillery’s first bourbon distillation on March 30, 2023, and was selected from the first five barrels filled. After three Texas summers of aging, the whiskey delivers a full-bodied profile with notes of sweet oak, caramel, and baking spice, complemented by hints of orange, vanilla, and maple. The finish is smooth, with lingering notes of soft clove.
Crafted from a Four-Grain Mash Bill
Shiner Texas Legend is made from a corn-dominant four-grain mash bill consisting of Yellow Dent Corn, Malted Wheat, Winter Rye, and Two-Row Malted Barley. The spirit was aged in heavy toast level 3 char American white oak barrels and bottled at cask strength—109 proof (54.5% ABV). Priced at $199, the release represents the distillery’s dedication to quality and the independent spirit of Texas craftsmanship.
Distinctly Texan Character
“With Shiner Texas Legend Bourbon, our team wanted to create something that feels timeless but unmistakably Texan,” said Tom Fiorenzi, Director of Brewery and Distillery Operations. “It’s smooth and balanced with a rich aroma and the depth you’d expect from a classic bourbon, yet it carries a distinct Texas character from natural aging in American oak barrels shaped by the South Texas climate. We’re excited to share it.”
Launch Event at the New Shiner Distillery
To celebrate the release, Shiner hosted a launch event at Rickhouse, its new distillery and restaurant, on November 1, 2025. Guests purchased bottles of the new bourbon as well as Shiner’s 90 proof Texas Bourbon. The day also included live music and cocktail specials featuring Shiner Texas Bourbon.
Carrying on a 116-Year Legacy
Founded in 1909 by Czech and German immigrants, the K. Spoetzl Brewery has been a fixture of South Central Texas for over a century. In 2023, the brewery expanded to include the K. Spoetzl Distillery, producing a growing line of spirits including Texas Vodka, Texas Gin, and Shiner ‘Shine. With the addition of Texas Legend Bourbon, Shiner continues to expand its legacy of craftsmanship and innovation—all still produced in the small town of Shiner, Texas.
