Spirited Seas Vol. II Press Release – This has been edited by Bourbon Lens and AI
Bermuda (October 1, 2024) – Goslings Rum has unveiled Volume II of its Spirited Seas Rum series. This release is highly anticipated. It follows the success of Volume I in 2022. Spirited Seas Volume II brings to life the unique effects of ocean-aging. The rum has traversed nearly 60,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean over a 40-week period. It develops complex flavors influenced by the rolling waves and changing temperatures. This limited-edition release is now available in select U.S. retailers and online through Goslings’ website and ReserveBar at a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 750ml bottle, with an ABV of 44%.
The journey began in 2023, when Goslings loaded American White Oak bourbon barrels filled with a blend of their finest aged dark Bermuda rum onto the M/V Oleander. This vessel traveled weekly between New Jersey and Bermuda. This created an environment for the rum to mature. The rum expanded and contracted with shifting temperatures. Goslings learned from the insights of Volume I. They increased the proportion of older rum in the blend. This change enhanced the richness of flavors. The ocean’s natural forces, from fluctuating temperatures to the rhythm of the waves, contributed to the rum’s distinctive Atlantic character.
“With the success of Spirited Seas Vol. I, it became clear that this experiment had much more to offer,” says Malcolm Gosling Jr., eighth-generation rum maker. “Every batch reveals new dimensions based on the ocean’s unpredictable conditions, adding an element of adventure to each release.”
Spirited Seas Volume II presents a nuanced profile with oak aromas. It offers a rich palate featuring caramel, leather, and spice. It has a smooth, lingering finish. It is perfect for sipping neat. Goslings also suggests enjoying it in a Seafarer’s Rum & Tonic. Mix it with Goslings Citrus Tonic Water and garnish with lime.
