As we continue to tease our upcoming podcast with The Dalmore, we have a review of some Single Malt Scotch. I’m sitting down with The Dalmore 14 on Christmas Eve to ask a simple question; is this the perfect Christmas pour? This US-Exclusive is made with the bourbon drinker in mind and it stands out in a flight, even with The Dalmore 18.
Just the Facts:
Proof: 87.6
Age: Minimum of 14 Years
Mash Bill: 100% Malted Barely
Style: Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Jake’s Tasting Notes: The Dalmore 14
Color: Copper
Nose: On the nose you get a beautiful vanilla, light cinnamon, and stone fruit combination. This is followed by a very delightful bready characteristic.
Palate: The whisky has a very nice peach note on the front of the palate, which fades to bread pudding with elements of mocha.
Finish: Long finish and you’ll continue to taste all of the bready flavors with the slight hint of peach.
Closing Thoughts
While this may not scream Christmas, the Dalmore 14 is an amazing pour. This bottle now goes to the top of my list when having a discussion with someone about Scotch and why they should try. The Dalmore has made a believer out of me after tasting this 14 Year US-Exclusive.
