Town Branch Distillery has released a 17-year-old Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey as Volume 3 of its Archive Series. The distillery calls it the oldest age-stated American single malt ever released. It’s a 100-proof, single-barrel, non-chill-filtered whiskey, and only 85 bottles exist, at a suggested $399.99 per 750 mL.
Town Branch is the 7th member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and the first new distillery built in Lexington since Prohibition. It started distilling in 2008. The Archive Series casks are among the very first barrels run through the distillery’s Forsyth’s dual copper pot stills.
“These are very old barrels we’ve selected for the Archive Series. The hard work lies in preserving the whiskey and knowing when it’s ready to be shared. The easy part is getting to taste all the incredible things still to come from our single malt whiskey program. Consider this a little preview of what the future holds,” notes Dave Bob Gaspar, Head Distiller and Blender at Town Branch Distillery.
