Announcing a Timely, Seasonal Return of Decadence Bourbon
Widow Jane Distillery has announced the return of its Decadence Bourbon, a small batch whiskey finished in American oak barrels that previously held Crown Maple Syrup. Bottled at 45.5% ABV (91 proof), the annual release will once again be available in limited quantities at a suggested retail price of $99.99.
A Holiday-Ready Release
Since its debut in 2020, Decadence Bourbon aims to be a seasonal favorite, timed for fall and winter gatherings and holiday gifting. The whiskey looks to highlight the bold flavor and body found in Widow Jane’s whiskey portfolio, with an added layer of sweetness from the maple syrup barrel finish.
Flavor Profile and Tasting Notes
According to Widow Jane, Decadence offers “notes of sugared pecans, birch beer, and charred oak on the nose,” followed by a palate of “vanilla, burnt sugar, and cinnamon bark with a wink of maple syrup.” The finish delivers “brown sugar, shortbread, mellow tobacco, and old whiskey,” with a creamy mouthfeel and lingering sweetness.
Crafted for the Season
“Decadence was crafted for the season when crisp air and longer nights invite us to slow down and enjoy life’s richer moments. Its velvety, indulgent flavor profile is a natural fit for this time of year, when gatherings grow cozier and we treat ourselves to something special. Decadence is meant to be savored in those moments of celebration,” said Susan Wahl, Vice President of American Whiskey for Heaven Hill Brands.
Crown Maple Decadence Old Fashioned
Widow Jane also highlighted the Crown Maple Old Fashioned, a seasonal cocktail featuring 2 ½ oz. Widow Jane Decadence, ¼ oz. Crown Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup, Angostura bitters, orange bitters, and an expressed orange peel garnish.
Who is Crown Maple?
The finishing barrels come from Crown Maple, based at Madava Farms in New York’s Hudson Valley. Founded in 2010, Crown Maple has become the state’s largest maple syrup producer and is distributed nationwide in restaurants, resorts, and retailers.
