The 21st Master’s Collection release showcases rare Chinkapin oak barrels and a bold 110.4 proof bourbon.
Woodford Reserve has released its 2025 Master’s Collection expression: Sweet Oak Bourbon. This marks the 21st installment in the series, which continues the brand’s exploration of American oak innovation and the role wood plays in shaping whiskey flavor.
Aged in Chinkapin Oak
The limited-edition bourbon was crafted in Chinkapin oak barrels, selected for their unique grain structure and bold flavor contribution. The whiskey is bottled at 110.4 proof. Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall said, “Bottled at 110.4 proof, this bourbon delivers a powerful, full-bodied profile while maintaining Woodford’s signature sweetness. With sweet oak at its core, this expression offers nuanced layers of flavor that whiskey collectors and connoisseurs will appreciate.”
Availability and Price
Sweet Oak Bourbon will be available in limited quantities beginning September 9, 2025. The suggested retail price is $179.99 for a 700ml bottle. Distribution includes select Kentucky retailers, the Woodford Reserve Distillery, and the brand’s online shop, with shipping to Kentucky, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Washington, D.C.
Tasting Profile
Woodford Reserve describes Sweet Oak Bourbon with a mahogany color and an aroma of mulled cherries, raisins, clove, nutmeg, sweet leather, and toasted oak. The palate offers flavors of baking spices, sassafras, roasted walnuts, and black tea, while the finish lingers with oak, black tea, and dried dark fruit.
