Woodford Reserve has introduced the newest addition to its Distillery Series: a 12-Year-Old American Single Malt Whiskey, marking the brand’s first release in the rising category of American Single Malt.

Crafted from 100% Malted Barley

The whiskey was created by Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall using 100% malted barley, triple pot distilled, and aged for 12 years in used whiskey barrels. According to the brand, the decision to reserve these barrels for an age-stated release was intentional, producing a whiskey with layers of sweet nutty malt, soft caramel, warm spice, and subtle citrus.

Master Distiller’s Perspective

“I’m excited to release this 12-year-old American Single Malt, a whiskey that proves just how essential long aging in used barrels is for unlocking its full flavor potential. Its lighter color and nuanced flavor profile demonstrate the importance of time. I believe it’s one of the most authentic American Single Malts ever released — the first of its kind,” said McCall.
