It’s so great to see many brands jumping on the American Single Malt bandwagon. Stephen B. Beam and the team at Limestone Branch are a perfect fit for this new and innovative spirit category sweeping the spirits landscape. While Yellowstone American Single Malt does hail from Southern Indiana, there is no shame in using the whiskey portfolio that you have at your fingertips, if you are part of the LuxCo / MGP Family.
Just the facts:
- Proof: 108
- Age: Four Years Old
- Mash bill: 100% Malted Barley
- Style: American Single Malt
Jake’s Tasting Notes: Yellowstone American Single Malt
Nose: Right off the bat, there are delicious pie notes of a cooked bready crust, apple, cinnamon, vanilla, and a dusting of nutmeg.
Palate: The flavor on the palate is inviting but packs a punch. It’s warm and coats your tongue. After the first sip, it mellows with baking spices and ripe juicy apples. Leaving behind a bready, cinnamon aftertaste.
Finish: long and soft; all the flavors are hitting my palate and lingering there.
Closing Thoughts:
I was very excited to try the base distillate from Indiana that was blended by the Limestone Branch team. I get the great undertones that Luciferous brought forward in the finished American Single Malt by Broken Barrel that used the same Indiana distillate. If you are a fan of American Single Malt, this is a must buy!
