Introducing Wave That Flag Bourbon and Boston Tea Party Rye for America’s 250th.

Independent bottler Copper & Cask is commemorating America’s upcoming 250th anniversary with the release of two limited-edition whiskeys that celebrate the nation’s heritage, craftsmanship, and spirit of innovation. The releases, a bourbon and a rye whiskey, showcase the company’s continued focus on unique barrel-finishing techniques under the direction of Barrel Master Stephen Corrigan.

Two Distinct Whiskeys Mark a Historic Milestone

The first release, Wave That Flag, is a 9-year-old Double Oak Bourbon finished in custom American Oak Wave Stave Char #1 barrels. The secondary maturation is designed to enhance the whiskey’s richness and complexity, resulting in a profile featuring notes of caramel, fruit, and toasted oak. Copper & Cask produced 3,000 bottles of the commemorative bourbon.

Joining it is Boston Rum Party, an 8-year-old rye whiskey finished in rum casks for more than a year. Inspired by the rebellious spirit associated with the Boston Tea Party, the whiskey combines the spice-forward character of mature rye with sweeter influences drawn from the rum casks. The resulting whiskey delivers layers of cinnamon spice, sweetness, and a softer overall profile. Production of Boston Rum Party is limited to 2,000 bottles.

Continuing a Focus on Barrel Finishing

The two releases highlight a growing trend within the premium whiskey category, where secondary maturation is increasingly used to add complexity and differentiation to mature spirits. While Wave That Flag leans into traditional American oak influence through its double-oak approach, Boston Rum Party explores the interaction between rye whiskey and rum cask finishing, creating two distinctly different expressions tied together by the America 250 theme.

Corrigan, whose blending and barrel selection work has earned industry recognition, crafted both releases as tributes to American whiskey-making while drawing inspiration from key moments and symbols in the nation’s history.

Supporting Veterans Through Agriculture

In addition to commemorating America’s semiquincentennial, Copper & Cask is partnering with the Arcadia Center, a Veteran Farmer Training Program that helps military veterans transition into careers in sustainable agriculture. The company will donate $1 from every bottle sold to support the organization.

Corrigan has worked with the program for nearly 15 years, making the charitable component a personal connection to the project as well as a continuation of the brand’s community-focused initiatives.

Availability

Both whiskeys will be available beginning Friday through select Copper & Cask retail partners nationwide as well as through the company’s online sales platform. Each expression carries a suggested retail price of $74.99.

With a combined production of just 5,000 bottles, Wave That Flag and Boston Rum Party represent limited commemorative releases timed to coincide with the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations and offer whiskey enthusiasts two distinctive interpretations of American whiskey craftsmanship.
