Espolòn Expands Portfolio with New Extra Añejo Expression.

Espolòn Tequila has unveiled its newest premium offering, Espolòn Extra Añejo, a tequila aged for more than three years and finished in French Chardonnay casks. The release adds a new ultra-aged expression to the brand’s portfolio while maintaining Espolòn’s focus on approachable pricing and agave-forward flavor.

Available nationwide beginning in June 2026, Espolòn Extra Añejo arrives ahead of Father’s Day with a suggested retail price of $69.99 per 750ml bottle.

Double-Cask Aging Process

Produced in the Los Altos region of Jalisco, Mexico, Espolòn Extra Añejo undergoes a unique maturation process designed to distinguish it from traditional extra-aged tequilas.

The spirit spends two and a half years aging in American oak barrels before receiving a six-month finishing period in French Chardonnay wine casks. According to the brand, the additional wine cask maturation introduces added complexity while preserving the tequila’s signature agave character.

Maestro Tequilero Jesús Susunaga Acosta said the Chardonnay cask finish was selected to add new dimensions of flavor while remaining true to the brand’s identity.

Extra Añejo Tasting Notes

Espolòn describes the new Extra Añejo as offering a balance of rich oak influence and approachable sweetness. Tasting Notes from the brand include:

  • Caramel
  • Vanilla
  • Toasted oak
  • Sweet spice
  • Rich, smooth finish

The extended aging and dual-cask maturation create a profile designed to appeal to both tequila enthusiasts and consumers who typically gravitate toward aged whiskey and Scotch.

Artist Inspired, Distinctive Packaging

The release is packaged in a matte-black bottle featuring neon green lettering and label artwork inspired by renowned Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada, whose work has long served as a creative influence across the Espolòn lineup.

The label depicts “The Serenata,” referencing the Mexican tradition of serenading a loved one beneath their window. Espolòn also highlights its practice of exposing fermenting tequila to music and sound vibrations during production, a tradition the brand says contributes to the spirit’s character.

Pricing and Availability

Espolòn Extra Añejo is bottled at 40% ABV and is now available at retailers across the United States. Consumers in select markets can also purchase the expression through Espolòn’s website for direct delivery.
