The New Experimental Finish Expands Jack Daniel’s Unique Distillery Series Line

The Jack Daniel Distillery has announced Distillery Series #16, a new limited-release Tennessee Rye Whiskey finished in table syrup barrels. The whiskey joins the brand’s experimental Distillery Series, which highlights innovative techniques and unique barrel finishing approaches.

Tennessee Rye with a Syrup Barrel Twist

Distillery Series #16 begins with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye Whiskey made from a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley. It is matured in new charred white oak barrels before undergoing a secondary finish in barrels previously used to hold Southern-style table syrup. This finishing process adds layers of sweetness designed to complement the whiskey’s bold rye profile.

Innovation Through Unique Barrel Finishing

Byron Copeland, Barrel Maturation Manager and Master Taster, emphasized the role of experimentation in the Distillery Series. “The Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series is all about exploring new ideas, and the complex nature of our Tennessee Rye Whiskey makes a great canvas for experimentation,” Copeland said. “Thanks to what we can do with our barrels, the finish adds a sweetness and depth that’s completely unique but unmistakably Jack.”

Flavor Profile and Release Details

According to Jack Daniel’s, Distillery Series #16 opens with notes of salted caramel supported by warm rye spice. The table syrup barrel finish adds sweetness and depth while preserving the whiskey’s natural complexity. Bottled at 111.4 proof (55.7% ABV) in 375ml bottles, the release will be sold exclusively in Tennessee and at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop in Lynchburg beginning December 6. The launch coincides with the annual lighting of the Jack Daniel’s Barrel Tree. The suggested retail price is $44.75 plus tax.
