Jack Daniel’s is bringing its American Single Malt Whiskey to consumers across the United States for the first time in a nationwide limited release.
Previously available only through select duty-free retailers internationally, the whiskey expands availability as American Single Malt gains broader recognition as the first new official whiskey category established by the TTB in more than 50 years.
The whiskey features a 100% malted barley mash bill, with the grain ground, fermented and distilled at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee. It is charcoal mellowed using sugar maple charcoal, matured in new, charred American oak barrels and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, adding another layer of flavor to the Tennessee whiskey.
Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher said the release reflects the distillery’s interest in experimentation while participating in the development of the emerging American Single Malt category. The whiskey offers aromas of soft oak, fruit and cocoa, followed by flavors of dark chocolate-covered nuts and berries and a subtle, sweet Oloroso Sherry finish.
The nationwide launch also expands a whiskey that has previously been experienced primarily by international travelers. Jack Daniel’s says the expression will be available in limited quantities and for a limited time across the country beginning this fall.
Jack Daniel’s American Single Malt Whiskey is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV) in a 1-liter bottle and carries a suggested retail price of $74.99. The nationwide release gives American whiskey drinkers an opportunity to try Jack Daniel’s interpretation of the newly recognized American Single Malt category.
