New Limited Release American Whiskey Targets Whiskey and Cigar Enthusiasts
Penelope Bourbon has announced the release of Cigar Sessions Chapter 1, a limited-edition American Whiskey created to enhance the enjoyment of medium-bodied cigars. This is the first release in a planned annual series, with future “Chapters” tailored to different cigar profiles. The release is available in select markets starting this month with a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750mL bottle.
Unique Blend Crafted for Flavor Balance and Complexity
Cigar Sessions Chapter 1 features a proprietary blend of Straight Bourbon, 100% American Single Malt, and American Light Whiskey. Bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV) and aged for six years, the whiskey uses a mash bill of 72% corn, 15% rye, and 13% malt. Flavor notes include milk chocolate, vanilla, candied apple, dried peach, tobacco, and warm caramel, with a finish of toffee, dark fruit, and light oak.
Collaboration with Cigar Experts Sets Release Apart
Penelope worked closely with cigar industry veterans Cynn Coburn of Dissident Cigars and Lee Marsh of Stolen Throne Cigars to develop the blend. “We wanted to create a truly authentic cigar blend – one that was created in partnership with a group of highly talented cigar master blenders,” said Michael Paladini, Penelope founder and VP of strategy for MGP Ingredients.
Refined Through Extensive Testing and Collaboration
According to Penelope co-founder and master blender Danny Polise, the team evaluated 19 different mash bills during the development process. “It was the balance of the American Single Malt together with the American Light Whiskey and the straight bourbon that resulted in a flavor profile that makes it the perfect choice for a cigar pairing,” said Polise.
Part of Penelope’s Annual Limited Release Portfolio
Cigar Sessions Chapter 1 joins Penelope’s growing lineup of Limited Releases—small batch offerings that showcase rare barrels and experimental blends. Only 7,500 cases of this inaugural edition will be released.
