Today, we are reviewing the newest release of 15 STARS Private Stock Bourbon. 15 STARS 8 & 15 Year Bourbon is bottled at 107 proof (53.5% ABV) and is a blend of Kentucky straight bourbons aged 8 and 15 years, a familiar expression to fans of the previously released 7 & 15 Year Private Stock. The bourbon was released in March 2024 and you can find the full press release in our archive. If you haven’t listened to our recent podcast with Rick and Ricky Johnson, check that out to get more of the backstory on 15 STARS and its father-son founders. Let’s get into the full, written review.

Scott’s Tasting Notes: 8 & 15 YO Private Stock Bourbon
- Nose: rush of spice, raspberry, pipe tobacco, vanilla, oak, and fruity candies.
- Palate: sweet oak, vanilla, and salted caramel. This bourbon has a nice umami character that has me wanting to reach for it more often.
- Finish: long and lingering with a touch of drying spice
Closing Thoughts
15 STARS continues to impress with their well-aged series of bourbons. There is no doubt that this is a premium bourbon and if you have the means, I would suggest you grab a bottle of 15 STARS. This is a great bottle to start with given its prominently featured age statement and a full flavored sweet oak note which one should expect from a well-aged bourbon. This year’s release of Private Stock is a full flavored, yet balanced bourbon that won’t sear your palate with an ultra high proof.
