New technology is coming to the whiskey aisle with the launch of “Bourbon Gifting Reimagined,” a first-of-its-kind NFC-powered gifting platform designed to transform any bottle into a personalized experience.

Announced ahead of Father’s Day 2026, the new initiative allows consumers to apply a premium NFC-enabled sticker to a bourbon bottle and attach a custom digital message, photo, or video. Recipients can then unlock the personalized content with a simple smartphone tap, creating a more interactive and memorable gifting experience.

According to Bardstown Bourbon Company Master Blender Dan Callaway, the concept aligns with the brand’s innovation-focused approach to American whiskey.

“It’s not about changing the bottle—it’s about adding something to it. Something personal. Something that lasts,” Callaway said.

The project was developed in partnership with packaging company Eurostampa and connected technology platform io.tt. Unlike traditional QR-code implementations often hidden on packaging, the NFC technology is embedded into a premium front-label medallion that maintains the bottle’s upscale appearance while delivering digital functionality.

Eurostampa marketing innovation leader Ermanno Bosco said the initiative represents a new direction for connected packaging in the spirits industry, shifting the focus from brand storytelling and authentication toward consumer-driven personalization.

Cameron Worth, founder and CEO of io.tt, noted the platform allows whiskey drinkers to create meaningful moments around gifting rather than simply accessing brand content.

The program will roll out nationwide through retail locations, events, the company’s Bardstown distillery, and Louisville tasting room. Consumers can also request complimentary NFC gift stickers directly from the brand’s website.

While timed around Father’s Day gifting, Bardstown Bourbon Company says the platform is intended for year-round use across birthdays, celebrations, thank-you gifts, and special occasions.

According to the brand, the launch reinforces Bardstown Bourbon Company’s reputation for blending whiskey tradition with modern innovation as the Kentucky-based producer continues expanding its national presence.
